RiverWatch is a statewide monitoring
program utilizing trained citizen scientists to provide information on
the health of our streams and give researchers and policy makers the
ability to better plan and tend to the future of our state’s water
resources.
Citizen scientists examine indicators
like stream habitat and the diversity of species such as mayflies,
caddisflies, stoneflies, midge worms and snails. These organisms
display varying tolerances to pollution and habitat changes and are
important indictors of stream health.
