Confluence Field Station

U of I Chancellor to Tour NGRREC Field Station
Chancellor Robert Easter and 20 faculty members and administrators from the University of Illinois will meet on January 13 to see the new field station, learn of the possibilities for research and education and consider collaborations with Lewis and Clark-NGRREC scientists and educators. Lane Richter Former Intern First Author in NGRREC Publication Series
Lane Richter, a two-summer veteran of the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center Intern Program, was awarded Outstanding Environmental Sciences Graduate Student at SIUE in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. Marcia Lochmann Water Wise
Environmental educator Marcia Lochmann hopes to reconnect people with the region's great rivers with the help of education programs created through the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center. Lochmann, a former biology teacher, said her interest in environmental education began after teaching a high school environmental science class early in her career. But her love for the outdoors was evident much earlier as a young girl when her family would go on vacation. read more

The Wings of Spring Migratory Bird Festival Education Committee is pleased to offer, for the fifth year, its free Migratory Bird Festival programming to fourth and fifth grade students from Missouri and Illinois. Invasive species are a problem plaguing land managers all over the country. Often there is the will to fight them, but limited man power to achieve desired goals. Accordingly, innovative partnerships are often needed to pool resources to create effective change. This summer Lewis and Clark Community College (LCCC) partnered with the Job Center for Jersey County and the Great River Land Trust (GRLT) to create a Conservation Corps. read more
