Great
Rivers Land Trust (GRLT) has always been a strong and committed
supporter of the Watershed Project. Their recent donation of $6,000
will allow NGRREC to train additional teachers and students to
participate in our stream monitoring program.
The mission of GRLT is to promote the
preservation and improvement of natural resources principally in, but
not limited to, the watershed of the Mississippi River for the benefit
of the general public. These resources include: land and water
resources, the plant and animal life thereon, and the area’s unique
scenic, natural, and historic sites.
The Land Trust is one of the most
active non-profit organizations working to preserve open space and
wildlife habitat along the Mississippi River corridor. In Great
Rivers’ primary corridor, GRLT has protected nearly 1,800 acres of
land, including forest, bluffs, parks, prairies, farmland, and
wetlands, through easements and land acquisitions. They have also been
active in improving the area’s communities through a variety of open
space protection and enhancement projects.
